Kariobangi Sharks U-17s side will be participating in Zone C of the Nairobi Sub County League 2018 edition. Sixteen teams from Nairobi will be competing in Zone C of the Sub County League and the ever ambitious Sharks will be looking to win it on their second attempt after their 5th place finish last season. Geoffrey Wangalwa Magolo is the U-17s head coach while Beldine Leila is the Assistant coach. Joseph Obu is the team physio and Caleb Owino completes the team officials list as the goal keeper trainer. The four have been tasked with bringing the best out of the young Sharks in accordance to the traditions of Kariobangi Sharks Football Club. Geoffrey Wangalwa said his team is raring to go in this competition in an exclusive interview with the Kariobangi Sharks Digital team. You can read an extract of the interview below.

The team is ready: My team is very youthful, in fact most of my players are under the age of 16. Our captain is Naftali Otieno and he is also 16 and a very bright talent. We are missing some key players who have been called up to the National team as well as those playing in the Norway Cup but I still have a strong team at my disposal.

Preparations: We have prepared well and we can’t wait for the league to kick off. My players were a bit disappointed when the league was postponed but they are now excited to be playing their first match of the season on Sunday (15th April 2018).

The Targets: We want to improve on our 5th place finish last season. We are hoping to finish in the top 3 and we believe that with enough hard work and determination, we can achieve something special this season.

Players to look out for: We have a lot of exciting players such as Movin Otieno, Isaac Wasambo , Byron Ochieng and Sode Woge. I would also like to mention Lenny Ochieng who at the age of thirteen has impressed the coaching staff.

Proud Group: At the start of this season, 4 of our players were promoted to the U-20s side while 3 were called up to the national team. We are looking to continue in this trend because Kariobangi Sharks is fully committed to developing young players in our community and helping them to become pros. My team is humbled to be tasked with the role of developing the future Sharks.
