The Sharks during a training session in Kakamega ahead of the weekend match against KK Homeboyz FC.

The Sharks arrived in Kakamega and conducted a light training session yesterday as they get ready for the SPL Round 19 match against Kakamega Homeboyz, the match scheduled to be played on Saturday, 5th August 2017 at the Mumias Complex.

Both teams come into this match in need of a win having lost their last league matches, Sharks losing 3-2 against Zoo FC while KK Homeboyz fell 1-0 to Mathare United FC in the last round of matches.

The two sides last met in a league match in Machakos with the match ending in a barren draw, the second time the match has ended goalless in the three encounters between the sides.

Injuries/Suspensions

Sharks will have to do without a host of players who are out through injuries/suspensions. Elli Asieche and Ebrimma Sanneh missed the last game against Zoo FC due to injuries and the duo will face a late fitness test to access their possibility of featuring in the match against KK Homeboyz FC. Pascal Ogweno who's been a constant figure at the back, is ruled out of the contest having received a red card in our last match.

Sharks are currently 6th on the league standings with 27 points from 18 matches, KK Homeboyz on the hand lie 9th with 24 points from the same number of matches.

It was a disappointing  afternoon as we dropped two points against Zoo FC yesterday at Nyayo Stadium. Sharks were the better side heading into the break as we created more chances but couldn't convert. soon after the break Ebrima Sanneh gave us the lead when he beat the offside trap to head home a Paul Kamau cross.

Zoo would equalize moments later and efforts by the boys to get us the three points bore no fruits as the match ended in a one-all draw. Sharks will be travelling to Kericho for the reverse fixture on Wednesday and the team will be hoping for a better result.

We remain rooted in 5th Position with 27 points, 4 points behind the league leaders.

We progressed  to the Gotv shield Quarter finals stage with an emphatic 3-1 win against Sofapaka in a match played  at the Nyayo stadium. Sofapaka enjoyed early possession in the match but wasted a host of chances in the first half to take the lead and with two minutes to the end of the half, Sharks stunned the opponents after paul kamau got us the opening goal, a lead that we took into the half.

The second half belonged to the sharks and we managed to add two more goals courtesy of Masoud Juma brace to take the game out of Sofapaka's reach. Sofapaka managed to get a goal late into the match but that only served as a consolation with the match ending 3-1 in favor of sharks.

Kakamega High School winger Ogachi James Mazembe has joined our club on a three year contract.

The youngster, who shone in the just concluded secondary school games will join our squad after completing his 0-level studies in November 2017.

Mazembe is a Kenya U20 player who has been in the books of Zoo Kericho, though on loan at Green Commandoes.

"I am happy to join Sharks. It's an ambitious team that I believe will develop me further. My aim is to play in Europe but Sharks will be a good bridge," he said after putting pen to paper at the club's offices on Wednesday.

Kariobangi Sharks progressed to the Gotv shield round of 16 after edging out kenpoly 2-0 in a match played at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos.  After a cagey first quarter of an hour Sharks took the lead in the 18th minute through Gambian striker  Ebrimah Sanneh. The lanky  forward dribbled past entire kenploly defense calmly finishing past kenpoly keeper James ochieng.

Sharks had more chances to extend our lead before the break but Wycliffe Otieno and Sanneh missed. Kenpoly's lone first half chance saw Kamuzi Banda's head sail over.

Steven Odhiambo sealed the win for sharks in the 66th minute with a stunning free-kick from the right flank. the efender curled the ball into the top right corner giving Ochieng  no chance of pulling a save.
