SHARKS 1-0 NZOIA: KAPAITO AIMS TO GO BETTER THAN LAST SEASON
A 19th minute strike from Erick Kapaito was all that was needed to secure maximum points in our round 17 league fixture played at the Kasarani Stadium. The resurgent striker, who has just returned to action, after months out due to injury was full of joy; this being his second goal in three games and he spoke to us about his targets for the season
On how it feels to be back to the scoring chats
I am happy, it’s a great feeling. Having been out for long, I just wanted to come back and get the goals. I am not yet at 100%, I am still getting my stride back and I know it will take time but just to be scoring despite the circumstances is great for me.
On his targets for the season
The aim is always to do better. To go higher. So I can say that I am aiming higher than last season. I may have started late, but all in all I want to do better than last. I had 17 goals last season, this season I have 2 midway through the campaign so at the very least I can say its 15 more to go for me. I am going to work hard to achieve this.
Confidence of the coach;
The coach on his part expressed confidence in Kapaito and praised his attitude,
“He is working hard every day. You can see it at the training ground that he wants to get back to his best condition more so, physically. Mentally, I can say he is also showing great character. I pull him off before 90 minutes because I want him to come back gradually. I am confident that he will produce massive performances for us this season.”
It’s a positive sign for the team when we can get goals from our various attacking options, and Kapaito is surely one of the most dependable of them
