C.E.O EXPLAINS WHY SHARKS PRODUCED AGAINST ALL ODDS
Against All Odds is set to make history as the first sports documentary in Kenya to be fully produced by a sports club. In what is a giant step in sports digital content production locally, the documentary tells the story of Kariobangi Sharks with firsthand accounts.
Sharks C.E.O. Ms Lynda Ambiyo says that this is just the beginning of the club’s long-term plan to exploit the huge opportunities in content production.
“Soccer as a sport is changing by the day and clubs are now more than just the 90 minutes of play. The game is part of our lives and it is important to connect the fans with the history, vision and ideals of the club. Against All Odds is just the beginning; we have a lot in store.”
She furthered elaborated how they plan to make this content production profitable:
“We want to create a proper platform for producing, packaging and distributing content locally and even internationally. With this, we can be able to diversify the sources of club revenue. Gone are the days when clubs seat down and depend on TV rights of the leagues as the only way to connect with fans. It is the duty of clubs to exploit sporting content internally as other broadcasters deal with match day.”
“This is what modern football is about. We started with doing the behind the scenes in our last Shield Cup victory and the response was good. Now we have gone to the next step to tell the club story. Expect a lot more from us,” she added.
“After all, if we do not tell our stories, who will?” she concluded.
The documentary shall be released on Monday 10th June 2019 on the club YouTube account.
