
FULL TIME: MATHARE 2-1 SHARKS, SAKARI’S GOAL NOT ENOUGH FOR SHARKS.
The 8th slum derby hosted at MISC Kasarani on 12th January panned out into a fiery contest with Mathare coming out as Victors thanks to goals from Kevin Kimani and Daniel Otieno.
First half
The game started on a high tempo with James Mazembe’s shot being saved by Mathare’s shot stopper in the 6th minute. Patilah Omoto then saw his free kick go inches wide from a promising position.
Mathare turned on the heat putting Sharks on the back foot, the pressure resulted into a baragge of shots with Brian Bwire in the Sharks goal proving unbeatable. However, the relentless Mathare pressure finally yielded with Kevin Kimani getting the opening goal in the 35th minute.
The match was fairly balanced for the rest of the half with Patilla Omoto going close from a free kick only to be denied by the keeper at the last minute to half time, KevinTom Machika shot wide from a promising position.
Second Half
New signing Derrick Onyango was brought in place of John Omondi in the 50th minute and Patrick Otieno in place of Julius Masaba in the 54th Minute. Derrick got off to a cracking start hitting the upright in the 66th minute with his placed shot leaving the keeper helpless. James Mazembe was taken out and Daniel Sakari took his place in the 73rd minute.
Daniel Otieno added to Sharks misery with a belter in the 80th minute to put the scoreline at 2-0.
Daniel Sakari then put the score at 2-1 after getting a well teed pass from a Patilah Omotto free kick.
