The boys went into the Slum Derby desperately in need for a win and it was necessary that they score goals to achieve this. Well, they did it in style in a thrilling match scoring three goals in a single game for the first time in almost two months.
Among the heroes of this crucial derby victory was new signing Julius Masaba who scored the third goal after rounding up the keeper and slotting into an empty net. The midfielder expressed his delight in grabbing his maiden club goal and is hopeful for many more to come:
“I have been unlucky in the previous matches but yesterday was finally the day. I was really happy to score my first goal for this wonderful team. Now that I have started scoring, I am looking forward to score more for the team in the remainder of the season.”
The former Kibera Black Stars man was happy to do it in a derby after coming from the bench and is grateful for the faith the coach has shown in me:
“To score in a derby is special but what is even more special is that the coach has faith in me and in all of us. This team picked me from the second tier and has given me the chance to play straight away. Not many teams around here can do that. I now just want to repay the coach’s trust in me with good performances for the team.”
He could have grabbed a brace but was denied by the crossbar but that didn’t dim the impact he brought to the pitch after coming in. The attacking midfielder terrorized the defence with menacing runs and crisp passes giving a good account of himself.
The coach will certainly be hoping that Masaba keeps the momentum as we head into the home stretch of the season.
