KENYAN PREMIER LEAGUE 2019-20: KEY SEASON DATES TO NOTE DOWN
With the fixtures for next season released, we take a look at key dates this season, those that clearly stand out. Here is what we thought you should mark on the calendar:
28th September 2019: Slum Derby Comes Early
In just the fourth fixture of the season, we shall play host to our rivals and neighbors Mathare united in the Slum Derby. Having won the last derby at the tail end of the last season, this one will be an interesting one as the wounds in our rival’s hearts are still fresh and the sharks will enter the game with the bragging rights on their foreheads. A win against them this early will be important to boost the confidence of the boys.
20th October 2019: A clash against the champions
We registered our first league win against champions Gor Mahia last season courtesy of a Duke Abuya goal and it led to the second leg clash away being tensed and close though we lost narrowly. Our charity cup win over them in last season curtain raiser and the dramatic shield cup quarterfinal victory over them earlier on, makes this clash a hotly contested one. Be sure to come to Kasarani Stadium on this day.
14th March 2020: A trip to the coast
Well, it only comes once in a season; a trip to the beautiful coastal city of Mombasa. The new Standard Gauge Railway trip is a recommendation you may want to consider as railway trips don’t come often in this part of the world. Carry your shades, caps and hats, sandals, and of course your swimming costume. You got to enjoy the football, and a weekend out here.
We have won their once in our three attempts, while we met Bandari in two cup final last season. The stakes for this fixture always go higher.
2nd November 2019: Bogey team Zoo visits
Hard as it is to believe, we have never registered a league win against Zoo Kericho FC. Not the type of statistics you want. The boys must end the bad run against this opponent. This season is the perfect time to do it. Let’s do it.
