Q and A: Tom Teka on Kakamega High School alumni reunion, National team chances and more

We sat down with Tom Teka, our new acquisition from Nzoia Sugar FC and this is what he had to say on his move and expectations.

Q: So who is Tom Teka
Tom Teka, is a center back born and bred in Webuye Town a place known as Wananchi. A man who likes to win and to give his best in everything he does. I would say, I am a fighter.
Q: What was the motivation in joining Sharks?
The fact that Sharks is a team that gives young players the chance and believes in them is what motivated me. I believe that for me to grow into a great player I need to be in a place like Sharks, where I am supported and given opportunities to play at the big stage.
Q: You got a number of former schoolmates here, how is it like re-uniting with them?
Its great. We had a formidable squad in our final year at High School and we achieved a lot as team and to see that we our now six of us here working towards more is a great feeling. Mazembe, Kuol, Mwangi, Juma, and Bwire are my good friends and they have welcomed me and I am sure they will help me settle in comfortably.
Q: The club is on the rise and the expectations here are high, how does that make you feel?
Well it makes me feel that I need to work harder, to push harder and to fight for the team with all that I have got. I want to earn my place so I am here to fight for a place in the team and to fight for titles and hopefully make the team cement its place at the top of Kenyan football. I am a fighter.
Q: What are the target you have set to achieve as a Shark?
Well, I want to first do my best to help the club achieve the goals that has been set by the management. Then on my part I want to put in some good work so that I break to the national team, perhaps starting with the under 23. I have already played for the under 20 so know I got what it takes to represent my country. As a fighter I will fight for that opportunity
