REPORT: AFC Leopards 0-0 Kariobangi Sharks

The Sharks ended a run of two successive losses by drawing 0-0 with AFC Leopards on Sunday at the Nyayo Stadium in round 16 of the FKF Premier League.

The lads had lost back-to-back games against Nzoia Sugar and Mathare United and will welcome the result against a team now sitting nine points above them in the standings.

William Muluya’s men still remain in 13th place on the table with 17 points now.

The gaffer made two changes to the team that started against Mathare last time out, starting Dan Guya and Paul Odhiambo in place of Timothy Ekhavi and Matthew Kibiwott who both dropped to the bench.

The lads had several chances go begging in the game with the best in the first half falling to skipper Fortune Omoto, who after noticing Levis Opiyo off his line in the eighth minute, lobbed the Leopards’ keeper only for the ball to fall on the roof of the net.

Kevin Ouru was also called into action several times in the opening stanza and showed good instincts to come off his line quickly and deny Brian Wanyama and Cliff Nyakeya from capitalizing on fast breaks.

Shariff Musa and Tyson Otieno also came close to scoring but were denied by the Leopards keeper.

After the restart, Coach Muluya made two changes early and brought on Kibiwott and Moses Shikanda for Shariff and Paul.

The second half would see more of the same from both sides with plenty of chances being created and none being converted.

With an hour played, Ouru had a disappointing end to the game as he was stretchered off with John Otieno coming on in his place. The keeper had been moving gingerly since the restart and found it hard to continue after twice receiving medical attention on the pitch.

In the 66th minute, Lewis Bandi handled inside the area while sliding down to tackle Tyson Otieno but the referee waved play on.

With 15 minutes left to play, we would make another change that saw Biron Otieno come on for Omoto. Keith Imbali would assume the captaincy role after the change.
