SHARKS 1-ZOO KERICHO 1: WINLESS STREAK AGAINST ZOO CONTINUES

Kericho based side Zoo Kericho has maintained their unbeaten record against us in the league after a 1-1 draw at the Machakos Stadium today. This being our sixth encounter, the result leaves us with four draws and two loses against them.

The win in our cup fixture served as a welcome break from the league and the boys we hoping to build on that and get back to winning ways.

It was Erick Kapaito who gave us the lead in the 20th minute as he completed a wonderful team move to score in his third game in a row. The visitors however, bounced back with an equaliser at the half hour mark through Kevin Omondi.

It was always going to be a tough encounter playing against a team fighting to move out of the relegation zone, and it showed with the visitors being happy to sit-back in the second half.

Captain Patillah Omotto believed the boys could have gotten a win but was contended with the point.

“We played well, certainly better than the last league fixture. We just needed that extra push that wasn’t there today. I believe if we tried just harder we could have gotten the three points but now we will have to take one,” he said.

He also talked on the importance of safe guarding leads in tough games like this one.

“We always try to score the first goal of the game in order to put the opponent under pressure. Today we did just that through an early goal. Going forward it is important that we be able to hold on to our lead in any game. We should always make difficult for anyone to come back once we take the driver’s seat,” he added.

The result leaves us 7th on the log with 30 points.
