SHARKS 3 – ULINZI STARS 1: THE SYDENY LOKALE SHOW

After three winless league fixtures, the pressure was on the boys to step up and put our league campaign back on track. The lads were the first to threaten ten minutes into the game with Shaphan Oyugi putting Brian Juma through on goal but the midfielder was closed down by the opponent’s last man before he could place his shot properly. Minutes later, yet another Shaphan pass set Lokale one on one with the keeper but the keeper reacted quickly to deny Lokale. The opponents then had their chance as their striker hit the woodwork after connecting with a fine cross in the 26th minute.
Two minutes later, the Lokale show began. The striker beat the defence line yet again and this time he composed himself to finish coolly, placing the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs to open the scoring. Upon resumption from the break, Henry Juma produced a stunning run from deep in our own half then set up a delicious low cross that was dummied by a rushing Vincent Wasambo before it fell to Lokale who left two defenders for dead before slotting plus the helpless keeper to grab his first league brace.
First league brace soon became first league hat-trick as Lokale took advantage of his height to chest down a James Mazembe brace and overpowering the two centre backs before looping it over the keeper to make it three.
Ulinzi stars got their consolation goal in the 73rd minute when Enosh Ochieng pounced on a shot that had rebounded off the goalpost before goalkeeper John Oyemba could recover.
The boys controlled the remaining minutes of the game with some good display of possession football to secure the points that now moves us to 8th on the log six points behind the league leaders with a game in hand on our side.
