SHARKS TRIO SHINE FOR KENYA UNDER 23 EMERGING STARS

The Kenya U-23 side started their AFCON U-23/ Olympic Qualifiers in emphatic style seeing off Mauritius 5-0 in match played at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi.

Sharks players were at the center of things in the highly entertaining match. Winger James Mazembe who was handed a start down on the lift wing didn’t need much time to impress in his international debut as he scored Kenya’s second goal with a glancing header midway through the first half.

Sydney Lokale came in at the beginning of the second half and it took him only twelve minutes to put his name on the score sheet after he pounced on a re-bounce off the Mauritius goalkeeper.

In goal, Brian Bwire marked his second international game with a second clean sheet as he put up a confident display in a game that had little trouble coming his way. He was solid in his build up and showed some good ball distribution to the marauding wingers. His first clean sheet came early this year in a goalless draw against Rwanda U-20 in an AFCON U-20 qualifier match.

It was the perfect start for three in their maiden appearance for the under 23 after successfully graduating from the under 20 side.

The team leaves for Port Louis this weekend where they are expected to seal their qualification to the next round which shall be against Sudan or Seychelles.
