SHARKS VS HOMEBOYZ HEAD TO HEAD

Sunday 25th January 2020 will mark the 8th league meeting between Kakamega Homeboyz and Kariobangi Sharks. This fixture has been one of mixed fortunes for the Sharks with Homeboyz having had the better of them on five occasions while sharks have only one win and the other one fixture ended in a draw.

Here is the break down;

2017 Season

The first meeting between these two sides ended in goalless draw in a match played on 15th July 2017 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. It was a game hugely dominated by the Sharks but they failed to break down a resolute Homeboyz side.

The second leg encounter saw Homeboyz snatch the three points with a 2-1 win at the Mumias Sports Complex, Kakamega County on 5th August 2017. Wycliffe Opondo early opener for the hosts was cancelled out by Masud Juma but the hosts rallied to score again in the last minutes of the game through Ali Bai.

2018 Season

The Kakamega based side picked a win in the third league encounter beating Sharks 1-2 at the Camp Toyo grounds on 21stApril 2018. Noah Wafula gave the visitors the lead in the 36thminute and the game went to the break at 0-1. Paul Kamau then produced an equalizer in the 54th minute but the visitors scored again in the 78th minute through Kikonyo and walked away with the three points.

The second leg in Kakamega was full of drama. Heavens opened up in the 78th minute forcing the match officials to call off the match as Bukhungu ground turned into an unplayable swamp. The score was tied at 1-1 as Vincent Wasambo scored the opening goal in the 24th minute. Hedmond Maunda scored the equalizer in the 74th minute.

The replay on the following day saw the hosts emerge victorious courtesy of a lone goal from defender Smith Ouko to the heart break of the Sharks.

2018 / 19 Season

On 12th February 2019 Sharks finally got their first win in this fixture last season beating Homeboyz 0-1 at the BhukhunguStadium courtesy of a Shaphan Oyugi goal in a match that they played with 10 men for half an hour after Nixon Omondi was red carded.

The reverse fixture was a nightmare for the Sharks as the visitors walked away with a 0-3 victory at the Kasarani stadium on 5th May

 

2019-2020 Season

On 22nd September 2019, Sharks went down 3-0 at Bukhungu stadium.
