SHARKS VS LEOPARDS LEAGUE HEAD TO HEAD

After breaking for international football last weekend, the Kenyan Premier League will return this weekend with a game away to AFC Leopards awaiting the boys on match day 2 this coming weekend.

Having played to a draw on match day 1, the boys will be keen to get the first win of the season against a tricky opponent.

Two penalties, last minute goals and a red card are just but a piece of what six meetings between two has produced with the head to head in the league standing at two wins for Sharks and four draws.

Here is the complete breakdown:

2017 Season

Afraha stadium played host to the first league meeting between the two on the 7th of July 2017. Sharks emerged victorious with goals from Gambian Embrima Sanneh and Ugandan TayoOdongo settling the tie at 0-2.

The return fixture played at the Machakos Stadium on 7thOctober ended goalless. It was a morale boosting result for the boys as they managed to pick four points from one of the most established sides in the country on their debut season.

2018 Season

The third league meeting played on 25th April 2018 at the Thika Municipal Stadium ended in another draw, this time 1-1. Francis Manoah had headed in from a Patilla Omoto free kick and just as the boys were minutes away from recording another victory, a handball in the box gave Leopards a life line as Whyvone Isuza put the ball past John Oyemba from the penalty spot to ensure shared spoils.

On 18th September 2018 the 2nd round match saw the boys register their second league win over the Leopards with a convincing 3-1 margin. George Abege scored early in the first half but his goal was cancelled out by Whyvone Isuza before the break. In the second half, Duke Abuya put the Sharks in front again and Abege added his second to put the game to rest.

2018/19 season

Sharks opened the 2018/19 season with a 1-1 draw against the Leopards on 9th December 2018. Harrison Mwendwa had given Sharks the lead but Leopards equalized shortly after from the penalty spot through their captain Robinson Kamura while Michael Bodo was shown a red card late in the match 

In the last fixture between the two, George Abege equalizedwith last kick off the game to salvage a point for the Sharks after Whyvone Isuza had scored for Leopards in the first minute of play of in the match that was played at Kasarani Stadium on 24thApril 2019.
