THE MEMORIES OF SUDI STADIUM
Matchday 7 will see the Sharks travel to the Sudi Stadium, a stadium that holds lots of memories for the Sharks. A trip to the Bungoma based stadium has often ended on a positive way for the Sharks.
For three times that Sharks have visited the stadium for a Kenya Premier League fixture, they have managed two wins and a draw, keeping three clean sheets in the process.
Top on the list will definitely be the 10th December 2016 fixture. The game was the final one of the second tier League and Sharks visited needing a win to confirm their slot in the Kenyan premier League. Nzoia on their part were high flying league leaders, unbeaten the entire season.
The boys put up a fight of their lives as they left Sudi stadium with maximum points courtesy of 0-1 win despite going down to ten men after Sven Yidah was sent off midway through the second half. Midfield dynamo Patila Omoto scored the all-important winning goal.
Four months later, the two teams clashed once again, on April 9th 2017, this time in the Kenyan Premier League. Sharks had gone to that game having been winless in their first three matches in the top flight compared to Nzoia who had already collected five points at that time. The Sharks went one better of the previous year to ran away with a 0-2 victory courtesy of goals from Patila Omoto and Bolton Omwenga who had just joined the Sharks from the Bungoma based side. The win kick started the season and saw that saw the boys finish third in their top flight debut season.
The 2018 season saw the boys keep up the perfect record at the Sudi stadium as Gambian Ebrima Sanneh scored the only goal of the match, which coupled up with the great heroics of John Oyemba between the sticks, saw the boys walk away with 0-1 victory.
The last fixture between the two at the Sudi stadium was a boxing day fixture last year and it produced a goalless draw. This being the first time a meeting between the two ended in a draw.
Looking at the stats, one will definitely fancy the Sharks to do well at the Sudi stadium when the two lock horns this Saturday.
