The Sharks Breach The Sudi Stadium Fortress

Kariobangi Sharks visited the dreaded Sudi Stadium on match day 31 of the FKF Premier League needing to get back to winning ways after a series of bad results.

Coach William Muluya made four changes to the team that lost to Tusker with Timothy Ekhavi, Kevin Musamali, Byron Otieno, and Tyson Otieno starting in the places of Julius Masaba, Mathew Kibiwott, Ghai Panchol and Collins Obanda.

The gaffer also maintained the 3-4-3 formation with the intention of solidifying the defence that has been an Achilles heel for the team for the better part of the season.

It was a rather slow start for the Sharks as the hosts dominated proceedings for the first quarter an hour creating chances that fortunately failed to see them open the scoring.

Nzoia Sugar fashioned their first chance in the 12 minute when Beja teed up Barisa whose shot was saved by custodian Gideon Ogweno.

The Sharks responded in the 19th minute when Tyson Otieno’s delivery found Levitt Otieno whose header flew inches wide.

Perhaps the best chance of the first half came in the 27th minute when Randy Bakari’s error gifted Tyson Otieno possession but with only the goalkeeper to beat, he blasted the chance wide.

The hosts had the last chance of the first half when Barisa set up Leonard Kasambeli in the penalty area but his shot hit the crossbar ensuring the game was level heading into the break.

Coach Muluya made the first change at the beginning of the second period replacing Steve Biko with Julius Masaba.

After a rather dull first fifteen minutes of the game, Keith Imbali scored from the area after a costly error from Steve Otieno.

The millers though they had found the equalizer when Mahiga scored in the 64th minute but to their disappointment the assistant referees flag was up.

Kariobangi Sharks held on to the final whistle which saw them become the first team to beat Nzoia Sugar at the Sudi Stadium.

The win sees the Sharks move to 40 points ending a three-game winless run.

Focus now shifts to the next game against Talanta that will be played at the Kasarani Annex on June 3rd.
