THE STATS AHEAD OF OUR LEAGUE OPENER AGAINST WESTERN STIMA

Friday 30th August will mark the beginning of our fourth straight league campaign. Our opponents of the day will be Western Stima FC, who shall be visiting from Kisumu.

This will be the fifth time we play them in the league. The other four encounters have seen us win twice and draw twice.

The very first encounter came back  in 28th May 2017 where we played to a one all draw at the Moi Stadium Kisumu where the hosts cancelled out Masud Juma’s strike with a late equaliser. The reverse fixture on August 23rd 2017 produced yet another late goal, this time, a winner from Francis Manoah that gave us maximum points.

Their relegation to the second tier meant we did not face off in our second season. Upon their return to the top flight, we ended their brief unbeaten start to the league courtesy of a 2-1 win at the Machakos Stadium with George Abege and Harrison Mwendwa providing the goals. The reverse fixture in Kisumu ended in a goalless draw.

Interestingly, Sharks have never trailed in a match played against Western Stima. We have taken the lead in all of three of the four fixtures that we scored against them.

The two wins and two draws put us in prime position statistically, ahead of the league opener. Having collected maximum points against the power men whenever we hosted them, the gaffer will be hoping to keep this good record with yet another win on Friday.

The boys will however have to put the stats aside and grind for the 90 minutes to ensure that we start the league on high gear.
