THE STATS BEHIND KAPAITO’S RECORD 24 LEAGUE GOALS

By the end of his second season at the club, Erick Kapaito had 24 league goals to his name, making himself our all time league top scorer in our three year stay at the top flight.

Additionally, since he made his league debut on 3rd February 2018, no other player in the league has scored more goals than him despite the fact that he only played half of the second season due to injury.

It has taken him 40 league appearances to score the 24 goals meaning he averages a goal every one and a half-game since he opened his league account on 11th February 2018 against Vihiga United.

To appreciate his remarkable scoring streak so far, here is a breakdown of Kapaito’s scoring stats…

MEMORABLE GOALS

It all starts of course with that goal against Vihiga in what was just his second league match and his first home league match when he opened his account.

4th March 2018 would follow where he bagged his first hat-trick for the club against Wazito FC on a rainy afternoon at the Camp Toyoyo grounds. Two of his strikes on this day were blockbusters that are simply unforgettable.

14th July 2018, he hit a brace against Tusker FC as the boys put out a 5-2 demolition of the former champions. This was his first brace.

On 30th September 2018 his brace against Vihiga United at the Mumias stadium helped the team salvage a point away from home after having trailed by two goals with a quarter of an hour left.

Saturday 15th September was the day he scored his second league hat-trick against Nakumatt FC as he lead the team in another 5-2 rout.

SEASON BY SEASON

His debut season in 2018 clearly stands out and remains a memorable one for the club as he brought the golden boot back home and also won the MVP award.

Last season, 2018/19, he managed an impressive tally finding the net once in every two matches on average.

2018: 25 apps, 16 goals

2018-19: 15 apps, 8 goals.

FAVORITE OPPONENTS

Our jersey 20 has scored against ten different league sides across the two seasons. Overall, Vihiga United are his best customers. Not only did he open his Sharks account against them, he also completed a double against them that same season and went ahead to score another brace against them last season. He has five goals against them, more than he has against any other team.

Chemilil Sugar has also been a fixture he enjoys, as he completed a double over them in 2018 and also scored against them last season in what was his first goal after returning from injury. He has a goal in every meeting against them.

He also hit Tusker FC, home and away on his debut season to make them the third team he on his doubles roaster.

He has four goals against Mt. Kenya United, the second highest after Vihiga United. Three of those came from his record second hat-trick for the club.

He also has two goals in three meeting against our Slum Derby rivals Mathare United.

HAPPY HUNTING GROUNDS

Both of his two league hat-tricks and one of his three braces were scored at the Camp Toyoyo grounds, making it his best hunting ground. At the Kasarani Stadium he has scored six times making it his second highest scoring ground. On away matches, his brace at the Mumias Complex makes it his best ground on the road.
