WESTERN STIMA 0- SHARKS O: COACH SATISFIED WITH THE POINT AWAY FROM HOME

Coming from a 1-0 defeat in the far end of Mombasa the team took yet another long trip to Kisumu and ended up with a point after a goalless draw.

Sven Yidah was named captain of the day in the squad as all the deputies were absent through injury and George Abege started upfront in place of the in-form Erick Kapaito who got injured in the previous match.

Coach Kanu was quick to point the lad’s sharpness in front of goal as his main concern as he believed the game was theirs for the taking.

‘I think we just need to score. In the last five games, we’ve scored three goals, it is worrying for us. But again you look at the magnitude of injuries in our team and you see it is taking a toll on us. I think we should get contended by what we have,” he said.

Our stand in captain also spoke of the frustrating draw terming it as disappointing for the lads who gave their all.

“I was happy to lead the team out there for my first time. I really would have wished to have it end with victory for us but it wasn’t the case. We defended very well which is encouraging, and our build up play and creation of chances was just as the coach set us out to play. It is disappointing for us to come out with just a draw,” he said.

The draw leaves us 8th on the log with 31 points with our next game being a Sunday afternoon fixture against Tusker.

Starting XI: Brian Bwire (GK), John Kuol, Tom Teka, Bonface Onyango, Nixon Omondi, Sven Yidah (Cpt), James Mazembe, Vincent Wasambo, Shaphan Oyugi, Duke Abuya, George Abege.
